The North Gold Coast Seahawks are excited to announce the signing of Bride Kennedy-Hopoate for the NBL1 North 2023 season.
Kennedy-Hopoate impressed Head Coach Brad Kann in 2022 and she became a priority for him to form part of his front court for 2023.
“Bride brings a lot to the table for our team this year. She brings a level of toughness our program has been longing for. Plus, she has a complete offensive package, being able to score from inside and out”
Kennedy-Hopoate averaged 16.39ppg at 43.5% in 2022 for the South West Metro Pirates along with just shy of 6rpg.
The 26-year-old forward had plenty she was looking forward to in 2023 at The Nest.
“I’m looking forward to a few things! Being a part of a great community, playing with a group of lovely women and talented basketball players. I’m excited for our group to come together and play in a system that’s going to help us thrive and be successful.”
She brings a level of intensity to the game that the Seahawks fans will be sure to enjoy.
“I’m the loudest person on the floor, expect nothing less than 4 quarters of my relentless energy”.
Towards the end of 2022 Kennedy-Hopoate spent time in Mozambique playing in their national championship, where her team were crowned champions, the first championship of her career.
She was reflective after the experience, “My role in this team was completely different from what I was used to but being a pro you have to be able to adapt and adjust on the fly, you have to be selfless and do whatever it takes to give your best to your team to win games”.
