The North Gold Coast Seahawks are excited to announce that registrations are now open for the Term 3 Under-8 Mini-Ball Competition.
Designed specifically for our youngest basket
ballers, Mini-Ball is the perfect introduction to organised club basketball, providing a fun, engaging and supportive environment where players can learn the game, make new friends and develop a lifelong love of basketball.
Whether your child is picking up a basketball for the very first time or already loves shooting hoops in the backyard, Mini-Ball offers a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy being part of a team.
Why Mini-Ball?
Our Under-8 competition is played under modified rules that are specifically designed to maximise enjoyment and development for young players.
Games feature:
Four players on the court at a time, creating more space and more opportunities to handle the basketball.
Lowered 8.5-foot hoops, helping young players experience success and develop proper shooting technique.
Coaches on the court to assist and guide players throughout games.
A fun, encouraging environment focused on participation, learning and enjoyment.
Learn the Fundamentals
Players are introduced to all of basketball’s fundamental skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, defence and teamwork.
Most teams train once per week through their local club, allowing players to continue developing their skills outside of game day while building friendships with their teammates.
Play at World-Class Facilities
Mini-Ball games are primarily played at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre, the state-of-the-art venue built for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The venue features eight full-sized basketball courts and provides a fantastic game-day experience for players and families alike.
Join a Local Club
The Seahawks Junior Competition includes clubs located throughout the Northern Gold Coast region, ensuring families can find a club close to home. Thanks to Glory League, every Mini-Ball game is recorded, allowing players and families to watch games back and receive personalised highlight videos featuring their best moments on the court.
