Seahawks Basketball is excited to announce that U12 Representative Trials are now open please see details below regarding the new trial process.
Who Needs to Trial?
U12 eligible athletes who have not played Seahawks representative basketball in the past 12 months are required to attend three pre-trial sessions (4.5 hours total).
This includes:
Athletes who are new to representative basketball
Past Seahawks players returning after a year or more away
Players transferring from another association
Pre-Trial Details
(For non-Seahawks representative players only)
Session 1: Wednesday, 11 February | 4:00 – 5:30pm
Session 2: Wednesday, 18 February | 4:00 – 5:30pm
Session 3: Wednesday, 25 February | 4:00 – 5:30pm
Cost: $60 total (covers all sessions – 4.5 hours)
Both sessions combined form the initial trial stage.
Pathway to Selection
Pre-Trial Stage (4.5 hours across three sessions) Athletes demonstrate their skills and understanding of the game. Successful players will be invited to progress to the next stage.
Representative Trial Stage (4 weeks – compulsory for selection) Selected athletes join the full Seahawks representative training group. Over four weeks, players will:
Learn and be assessed on the Seahawks style of play
Develop game understanding and teamwork
Be evaluated on readiness and overall fit within the program
Cost: $100 total for the 4-week trial period
Team Selection
At the conclusion of the five-week trial period:
Teams will be finalised
All athletes will be notified via email, regardless of selection outcome
Why This Trial Model?
This extended trial format allows athletes to grow in confidence, adjust to our systems, and compete on an even playing field. It also enables coaches to make fair, informed decisions based on consistent performance rather than limited sessions.
