Facing a 4th placed Women’s team and top of the table Men’s side, the SmartSkill Seahawks Women and Men’s team have themselves a challenge this weekend.

The Women’s team Led by veteran Ashleigh Karaitiana (22 ppg, 11rpg) and Lauren Mansfield (17ppg, 5 rpg) will be a handful for the SmartSkill Seahawks Women’s side but Head Coach Paula Jansen is looking forwards to the challenge.

“They are a side sitting in 4th position for a reason, so our girls will need to be up for a battle” said Jansen.

“We will need to start a lot better than we did last weekend against Ipswich and get ourselves to the foul line, something we didn’t do really well either”

“I’m confident with two games to go in the regular season, we can go make some noise against the top ranked teams”

For the Men, they will be facing the 9-0 Red City Roar team that includes current Brisbane Bullet Harry Froling (30 ppg / 15rpb) NBA G-League Player Will McDowell White (23 ppg / 10rpg and 5 apg) and Brisbane Bullets Development player Verle Williams (16 ppg / 4 rpg / 4 apg)

Knowing they have an uphill battle against the top placed team, Head Coach for the Seahawks wants his troops to focus on what they can control.

“We want to continue focusing on ourselves, our structure offensively our behaviours and efforts defensively”

“The guys Red City are obviously extremely talented, but we can’t let that intimidate us from what we want to achieve, which is competing for the full 40 minutes and playing as a collective group” said Kann.

“We are playing for pride as the playoffs are out of contention, so we need each one of our players and coaching staff to bring it for the last two games of our season”
