The SmartSkill Seahawks women and Seahawk’s men hit the road this Saturday, as they venture to the Sunshine Coast for their match up against the USC Rip.
Both teams are coming off an unexpected bye this past weekend and will head into the contest with fresh legs and ready to head into an important part of their seasons.
The SmartSkill Seahawks women are still undefeated for the season and looking to continue their hot streak, sitting comfortably top of the ladder at 9-0 with the toughest defensive rating in the competition, even being a game ahead in games played.
Both teams collectively have the 5 top scorers in the competition, as well as the 2 leading rebounders in the league, so expect this one to be a high scoring affair.
The SmartSkill Seahawks Women will have to contain the league’s leading top scorer, and second top rebounder, Camryn Hughes who to date averages 21.7 points per game and 13.43 rebounds per game.
MVP candidates, Lauren Jansen (15 points, 4.2 assists and 13.89 rebounds) and Courtney Willemse (17.67 points per game), will have to be on their game this Saturday night, with Krystle Mackenzie starting to fire again in her second game back from a stint on the sidelines.
The Seahawks Men will be fired up after their 30-point demolition of Southern Districts prior to the break.
Scoring duo Jesse Lomax and Dave Gurney will look to continue carrying the scoring load for the Seahawks squad, but will look to have a tough task on the defensive end, with Ronnie Twidale for the RIP being the second leading bucket getter (24.71) in the QSL.
Young duo of Mackenzie Hall and Amarco Doyle have really found their confidence and belonging of late, with Doyle having consistent high scoring games and Hall leading his team confidently from the point guard position.
This is a huge part of the season for both Men’s and Women’s teams and will see them set up their run home to finals.
Next home game is against cross town rivals Gold Coast on Saturday July 17th
