QSL GAME RECAP | Seahawks @ Phoenix

For the first time this year, our SmartSkill Seahawks Women team have gotten into the winner’s circle with a massive win over the Sunshine Coast Phoenix this past Saturday night.

Lauren Jansen (16 Points, 7 Rebounds, 7 Assists) flirted with a triple double with great support from young gun Ella Brow (18 points)

Head Coach Paula Jansen was extremely excited after her team’s first win of the season.

“The girls were great tonight” said Jansen.

“We jumped out to a handy lead early and really kicked into another gear in the second half”

“To hold them to 54 points for the entire game really showed how tough the girls were defensively”

Jansen was particularly impressed with Ella Brow, with the young gun leading the scoring for the night.

“Ella has really come into her into her own in the past few weeks”

“She’s has handled the point spot exceptionally well her someone her age and her confidence continue to grow more time she is on the floor”

For the Seahawks QSL Men’s team, it was another tough night at the office with a 50-point loss to the star-studded Phoenix team.

Fill in Head Coach Marko Savic praised his team for their fight for the night.

“Phoenix are obviously an incredibly talented and experienced team who have performed at a high level for a long time”

“We are currently in development mode for our squad, so we know where the benchmark is and it’s up to us to lift our play to the high standard of our league”

In a shining light for the night, young point guard Maika Shortland led the team with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

It doesn’t get any easier for our teams this weekend, facing off against the powerhouse Southern District Spartans.
