Player Announcement - Jack McVeigh

In a huge coup for the North Gold Coast Seahawks NBL1 campaign, we are proud to announce the signing of Seahawk junior, and current Tasmania JackJumper, Jack McVeigh for season 2022.

McVeigh was the 2012 Junior Player of the Year for the North Gold Coast Seahawks, alongside Krystle McKenzie, and forged an impressive junior career prior to his professional career taking off.

With a distinguished college career at Nebraska Cornhuskers, where he emerged as a genuine 6th man of the year contender, before returning to Australia where he kicked off his professional career with a 3-year deal at the Adelaide 36ers. In his final season at the 36ers, McVeigh averaged career highs in points (9.4 ppg), before making the decision to be a part of the Tasmania JackJumpers in their first season in the NBL.

McVeigh is also coming off a championship winning season in the NBL1 Central division, where he led his North Adelaide Rockets team to a Championship whilst picking up an All Star 5 selection, as well as the coveted Most Valuable Player for the entire NBL1 Central competition.

McVeigh expressed his excitement on the return to his junior association.

“I’m pretty ecstatic to be able to get back to my junior association and be a part of their first season into the NBL1 North competition,” said McVeigh

“It was a really positive conversation that was had with the General Manager, Dwayne Vale, about why he wanted me to be involved, and it instantly struck a chord with me”

“It’s exciting that I have the opportunity to be able to get home, be around family and help bring the association success or better yet, its first championship in the NBL1”

General Manager for the North Gold Coast Seahawks, Dwayne Vale, is equally as excited as his marquee signing.

“Jack has had an exceptional junior career that he is starting to mirror as a professional,” said Vale.

“With Jack, it’s what he brings overall to our association. We know he is going to be a force to be reckoned with on the floor, particularly at the offensive end but it’s his passion for basketball and the community is where Jack’s true value lies”

“Jack is going to be invaluable to what we are attempting to achieve with our step into the NBL1 North, and we are excited to get him on the ground”
