The North Gold Coast Seahawks are pleased to announce that Perth Lynx guard Miela Goodchild has signed on for NBL1 2024.
The highly credentialed guard has represented Australia in Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels, and had a successful college career at Duke University.
Goodchild was elite for the Mount Gambier Pioneers in 2023 where she averaged 24.24 points per game while pulling in 7 rebounds per game. She had a season high 37 points against Waverley in a game where she also recorded 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Her form rewarded with NBL1 South All-Star 5 honours.
Upon her signing with the Seahawks, Miela said "I’m super excited to be finally coming back home this NBL1 season and taking up the fantastic opportunity to play for the North Gold Coast Seahawks. The style of play suits my game and I’m excited to showcase that. Can’t wait for this season!"
Head Coach Caddie Jeffries is thrilled to have secured Miela's services, "Being able to secure someone with Miela’s resume is a huge coup for our program and will greatly impact our success. Miela’s ability to score will make us extremely dynamic. Her willingness to buy into the team culture and her competitiveness are some of her greatest characteristics".
Miela joins Mikaela Ruef on the Seahawks roster, and GM Brady Walmsley is extremely pleased with having the pairing locked in, "We are pleased to welcome Miela to the Seahawks for 2024. With the signing of both Miela and Mikaela Ruef for our women’s team, we trust we will have one of the most formidable duo’s in the competition. This is an exciting time for our program"
The NBL1 North season will commence in April.
