McGuire to lead Seahawks men in 2023

The North Gold Coast Seahawks are pleased to announce that Luke McGuire will again lead our NBL1 North Men’s side for the 2023 season.

This will be Luke’s second year at the helm of our men’s side. McGuire is currently the Coach Development Manager with Basketball Queensland, prior to this he was in High Performance with Basketball WA.

Seahawks General Manager Dan Linderman expressed his pleasure with Luke’s appointment, “We are excited to have Luke back leading the team. He was a great asset last season and showed amazing resilience leading our injury-pressed team, we know Luke will take our men’s team to new heights with his poised leadership style and drive for success.”

McGuire is looking forward to continuing to build the program, following on from the foundation that was laid in 2022, “The 2023 season is a chance for the program to continue to build and move forward after a challenging 2022.”

“The foundation and culture has been set throughout the 2022 season and we hope this shows through a strong preseason and quality results in 2023.”

McGuire was positive for the future when reflecting on the challenges of 2022, “With the challenges that we face through injury, a lot of our young guys were able to get opportunity and progress their development.”

“We hope this will help the local core impact winning come 2023. The league has so many good players and each week poses a new challenge, we will need to be ready to go from week 1.”

Work is well underway to form the 2023 playing roster with the 2023 season starting earlier than usual, tipping off in late March. McGuire mapped out the coming months for the men’s program,

“Our recruiting will start to really ramp up over the next month and hopefully we can bring in quality people and quality players. Preseason is set to kick off in late Jan/Early Feb.
