Kann continues with Seahawks women

North Gold Coast Seahawks Basketball’s Director of Basketball Brad Kann will continue in his role as head coach of our NBL1 North women’s team in 2023.

The team is in excellent hands under Kann’s guidance, and they will be looking to improve on last season’s 9th placing and move into the postseason in 2023.

Dan Linderman, Seahawks GM never had anybody else in mind for the top job in the women’s program. “Having Brad lead the women’s program again this year was a no-brainer. He’s one of the most highly regarded upcoming coaches in the league and we’re very fortunate that he’s on our bench”.

Kann was happy with the foundation that was built in year 1 of the clubs move in to the NBL1 North competition.

“I am looking forward to picking back up from where we left off. We solidified our culture and program identity in 2022, which we are hoping to better and further develop in 2023.”

Preparations for the upcoming campaign started soon after the completion of the last season; Kann wasting no time to start forming the roster he feels can contest for the NBL1 title.

“We have been full on during our recruitment phase since mid-September. Watching countless games, highlight tapes along with phone calls and messages at all hours of the day and night.”

“The roster we are pulling together will hopefully be even more exciting for our Seahawks Community to support in 2023. We want to deliver a championship for our Seahawk Nation.”

The team was just outside of post-season action in 2022, with some lapses in some games ultimately costing the team that opportunity to play finals in year 1.

Kann reflected, “How invaluable consistency on the defensive (end) is to be successful at this level. Scoring can always be a rollercoaster, but defence needs to be where our team has stability and consistency.”

The team will commence their 2023 season in late March. Stay tuned for player signings in the coming weeks.
