Seahawks Women add former DePaul guard Lexi Held

The SmartSkill North Gold Coast Seahawks women are pleased to announce the addition of former DePaul guard Lexi Held for the 2023 NBL1 North season.

Held, a 5'10" guard enjoyed a stellar career at DePaul. She was named in the 20-21 All-BIG EAST First team, 19-20 All-BIG EAST Honourable Mention and BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was part of three BIG EAST championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

She would start in 89 consecutive games over her last three seasons and the Blue Demons compiled a 64-26 record with her in the lineup. She ranks 16th on the team’s all-time scoring list with 1,578 points and fifth in 3-point shots with 238.

Following on from her college career Held signed her first professional contract joining the Norrkoping Dolphins in Sweden, where she is now deep in to the playoffs.

Coach Brad Kann is looking forward to Held joining the group.

"Lexi is a dynamic scoring guard with limitless range on her jump shot."

"Her ability to create both in free play and in particular ball screen will allow our group to reach new heights."

Held is looking forward to the next phase of her professional career in Australia with the Seahawks.

"We're in the thick of our play-offs right now here in Sweden, but I can't wait to get down there to Australia. The Gold Coast looks like an amazing place"

"Getting on court with the rest of the team is going to be great. I think we can do some really good things together this season".

Held will join the team at the conclusion of her Dolphins playoffs campaign in Sweden.
