Seahawks Junior Charli Reece back for 2023

The North Gold Coast Seahawks are pleased to have secured the signature of Charli Reece for the 2023 season.

Reece, a Seahawks junior, had an outstanding 2021 QSL season, helping her team to an undefeated season and hoisting the championship trophy at the end of year, but was plagued by injuries in 2022.

The season can't come soon enough for Reece, who now has only a week or so to wait before the first ball is tossed in to the air.

"Playing NBL1 for the club I’ve been with since juniors is exciting and I can’t wait for the season to start"

Reece is excited to be past her injury concerns of 2022 and to be back on the court again.

"Injuries are no fun so it’s been awesome getting back on court with the group and getting back to it."

Reece was impressive at the NBL1 North Pre-season Blitz, starting to show some of that 2021 form that led to her elevation to the top level.

Head Coach Brad Kann is looking forward to seeing what Charli can put together in 2023.

"I love what she brings at the defensive end, with her physicality disrupting teams whether it’s in the block or out of the on-ball screens, I know Charli can compete at the NBL1 level."

"It’s always a fantastic story when a Seahawk Junior makes it all the way through the pathway of our association, so it’s a credit to Charli for wanting to be on this NBL1 journey with us, and to battle through her injuries to get back to match fitness"

The team will open their season on Saturday March 25th at the Nest, taking on cross-town rivals Gold Coast in the first instalment of the 2023 Clash of the Coast.

The shield was retained by North Gold Coast in 2022 when the two clubs head-to-head results across the men's and women's games was tied at 2-2. Having secured the inaugural shield in 2021, the honours remained at the Nest.

Be there on opening night to help get our teams off to the perfect start in 2023. Season memberships and tickets are available now at https://www.seahawksbasketball.com.au/tickets
