Bionca Dunham inks with Seahawks for 2023

The North Gold Coast Seahawks are thrilled to have secured the service of Bionca Dunham for the 2023 NBL1 North season.

The 24 year old centre played four years for the University of Louisville from 2016 to 2020 where she played in all 31 games in her senior year, starting in all of them where she was described as the "heart and soul of the Louisville defence" which had led the league for three consecutive years.

Following on from college Dunham has had pro contracts in Spain and Egypt.

Head Coach Brad Kann is happy to have his centre locked in for the season.

"Bionca's defensive presence and ability to guard all positions on the floor with her size and length will allow us to be disruptive to all opposition teams this season"

"Bionca's experience playing at a high level college who were ranked as a top 5 team in the nation for consecutive years will be invaluable to our upcoming local talent to learn from"

Dunham's decision to come down-under became an easy one after speaking with the coaching staff in the recruiting process.

"I feel like the coaches here will help me become a better player"

Dunham has settled quickly upon her arrival in Australia.

"The coaches and my current teammate Bride have made me feel really welcome and it feels like a really family orientated organisation"

Dunham and her SmartSkill Seahawks women will open their season this Saturday night at the Nest, taking on cross-town rivals Gold Coast in the first instalment of the 2023 Clash of the Coast.

Be there on opening night to help get our teams off to the perfect start in 2023. Season memberships and tickets are available now at https://www.seahawksbasketball.com.au/tickets
