QSL Saturday 29 August vs Southern Districts Spartans

The second home game of the season for our QSL Seahawks SmartSkill Women’s and Seahawks Men’s team is against reigning QBL Women’s champions and the current 1st place Men’s team in the competition, Southern Districts Spartans.

Our SmartSkill Women will be looking to go back to back wins for the first time this season but will have to put in the performance of the season to overcome the reigning champs.

Head Coach of the SmartSkill Seahawks Women’s team Paula Jansen acknowledges this weekend’s game will be a tough one for her squad.

“This game will be a challenge for our girls, but in order to be the best you have to beat the best, so we are looking forwards to the game on Saturday night” said Jansen

“We just need to do the simple things well and compete for the entire 40 minutes, the rest will take care of itself”

The Southern Districts Women’s team are coming for a convincing 124 – 47-win vs South West and 85-78 victory vs the Gold Coast Rollers.

The Seahawks Men face a large challenge vs the league leading Southern Districts Spartans who have a star-studded line up which include Brisbane Bullets players Anthony Drmic, Tamuri Wigness, Tyrell Harrison and Callum Dalton.

Head Coach of the Seahawks Men’s team Brad Kann has given his team some simple focuses this weekend, with keeping the tall timber of Districts off the boards.

“Southern Districts have height in the middle, namely in Harrison and Dalton” said Kann.

“For us to stay competitive on Saturday night, we need to do a job on the boards. That just doesn’t sit with our bigs, it will take a combined team effort to get it done”

This game is the first of a double header weekend for our teams, with Sunday bringing a trip up the mountain to play against the Toowoomba Mountaineers.
