QSL Saturday 15 August vs Gold Coast Rollers

Our QSL Smartskill Seahawks Women’s and QSL Men’s team face off against the old enemy,

the Gold Coast Rollers, this Saturday at the Nest.

With pride and bragging rights on the line in the Home derby, our Men’s and Women’s

teams will be looking to get their first wins of the season in front of their loyal fans this

weekend.

Head Coach of the Seahawks Men’s team Brad Kann is excited for his first Home derby at

the Nest this Saturday night.

“There’s no feeling like playing and coaching in the derby’s” said Kann.

After a tough off season for the Men’s team, former Seahawks Tom Howard, Brent Wallace

and Jordan Lum Kon jumped ship to the Gold Coast for the bright lights of the NBL1 which

coincidentally never occurred due to COVID-19.

“I actually have coached and worked with Tom Howard and Brent Wallace when we all lived

in Townsville, so I’ll be happy to go in, take the win and let the boys know about it after the

game”

“It won’t take much to get the group up for this game, with bragging rights on the line”

Our Smartskill Seahawks Women’s team will take a lot of confidence out of their close

defeat to the Northside Wizards, with Head Coach Paula Jansen excited for the challenge

against last year’s Grand finalist.

“The girls have had a great week at training and are extremely excited to get back on the

floor against the Gold Coast”

“We have worked extremely hard on our defensive transition which hurt us last weekend,

so with some fine tunings on both ends of the floor I think we will be right there in this

game”

The match ups will be of interest with a high contingency of the U18 Women’s Rollers and

Seahawks players making their Senior debuts, with the Seahawks contingency of Ella Brow,

Indiah Bowyer, Josie Josiah and Jessica Boundy vs Lily Rotunno, Skye Mason and Janique

O’Riley for the Rollers.

We will post the link for the Livestream prior to the Women’s game, then have a new link

for the Men’s game. Women’s Tip off at 5:30pm / Men’s at 7:30pm.

Reminder: This is a SOLD OUT event – there will be no tickets purchased at the door.
